Hi, I'm Günther Schröder, the creative force behind Sonic Essence, a project I dreamed up in 1987 as a teenager obsessed with Hi-NRG & Eurobeat sounds. Those early tracks got me hooked on electronic pop that sparked my interest in songwriting & producing.
‌In 1989 an artist called Technotronic's revolutionary sound pulled me into techno & I evolved my style accordingly.

‌In 1991, I joined the band MIC, where I wrote, produced & arranged most of the music until 2001. We won 2 South African Music Awards & landed several top-10 hits on the SA charts - a huge confidence booster.

Post-MIC, I ran a recording studio, collaborating with South Africa's top artists on production, mixing, & mastering. Life took me to Australia in 2008, where I paused music for a bit. But in 2018, I revived Sonic Essence as a hobby, blending my roots in dance & techno with fresh ideas in EDM/trap, Deep House, & contemporary pop.
